Miguel Alvarez, President, Founder
Miguel Alvarez is half courageous and half crazy, as I like to say. But don’t let that coy, humble exterior fool you. He’s as tough in business as in life. When he sets out to do something, there isn’t a man on earth who could stop him. His spirit never wavers and his tenacity is as ferocious as a lion’s. Miguel’s experiences in community outreach have softened his heart, which is ideal for dealing with the public.
Miguel started his artistic career at the young age of 16, working in the magazine industry as an art assistant in both national and local magazines like POZ, Mamm Magazine, HX, and Next. His dedication won him a Proclamation from the Bronx Borough President’s office and a B’nai B’rith Award for excellence in leadership, among over a hundred citations from various organizations in the early '90s for his role in public service and community outreach.
He attended Franklin College, SVA, and is now honing his craft at the prestigious Art Students League of New York, capping over 25 years of experience. Although Miguel is a self-taught artist, it is here that he nurtures his talents and gifts. (View his works on Artblr.com.)
Miguel doesn’t hold back when it comes to expressing himself through art. Like most artists, he sees the world through a unique lens. This is evident in both his artistic work and personal life. His empathy is another driving quality that makes him perfect for this mission. His uncanny ability to connect with people on all levels is remarkable.
Miguel has endured much to get to where he is, showcasing resilience and bravery in overcoming life’s obstacles. This propels his passion into work that is visual and urgent. But that’s another story for another time. What we do know is that we need a tenacious person to spearhead a campaign as large as this, with the empathy to understand what it feels like to struggle in today’s world.
John Lewis, Treasurer
John Lewis comes from the New York Stock Exchange with over 25 years of experience and has held GSR (General Service Rep.) and treasurer positions in various NA (Narcotics Anonymous) groups in New York City for the last 36 years. John knows a great deal about finances and public service and could budget books like no one else's business. When he isn't working, he dedicates his life to his 2 sons and beautiful dog Max. Emmanuel '∃Ros' Claudio, Creative Director
Since 2019, ERoS has been creating mesmerizing fluid art that embodies the unpredictable and dynamic nature of water. Working primarily with acrylic paint transformed into fluid-like viscosity, ERoS brings to life vibrant compositions on canvas and various other substrates. Inspired by the powerful, unpredictable essence of water, their art captures a sense of motion and energy that is truly captivating.
Growing up, EroS always had an innate artistic sensibility, often contemplating ideas that were considered avant-garde or different. This curiosity led them to explore the realms of the occult and the universe, believing in the interconnectedness of all energy and the notion that we are all stardust.
The artistic journey of ERoS began amidst the global pandemic in 2019, a time that allowed them to delve deep into their creative process. A significant milestone in their career was being asked to feature their art at Harlem Gay Pride in 2020, a moment that affirmed their artistic voice and vision.
With a belief in the power of art to connect, inspire, and evoke emotion, EroS continues to push the boundaries of fluid art, creating pieces that are not only visually stunning but also deeply thought-provoking.
Bradley Dorismond, Secretary
Bradley Dorismond’s journey has been a vibrant tapestry of creativity, service, and compassion. With a degree in performing arts and a concentration in dance, Bradley’s early career was shaped by his passion for movement and expression. Transitioning into the beauty industry, he excelled as a beautician, honing his skills and nurturing his talent for making people feel their best.
Bradley's multifaceted career also saw him thrive in the hospitality and service industry, where his people skills and warm personality shone. Today, Bradley brings his diverse experiences to his role as a paraprofessional, working with children with learning disabilities. His empathetic nature and dedication to helping others make him a beloved figure in his community. Bradley's rich professional background, combined with his genuine care for others, defines his approach to making a positive impact every day.
